"she's like a doll..."

at quiznos with a friend. she's in her late 20s.

cashier, obviously talking to my friend: "o my gosh, look at her! she's so, little! like a doll! i thought you guys were mom and daughter, but then i was like oh, nevermind! wow, i can't believe it!"
the friend and i both politely smile and pay for our food and make a mad dash outta that place.

well she clearly has NO manners.

thanks, little dude. much appreciated.

at the preschool i work at a few times a week.
boy: "hey, you're short."
me: (inside: NO, REALLY? thanks for pointing out that minor detail...) "yeah, i know. my bones grow slower but i'm still like a normal 15 yr old."
boy: "AND, you're fat." *innocent smile*
me: (inside: well HFJIEOWVNRJUWEILNFJDLK to you!) "well that isn't very nice to say."

yeah, it's been a long week. and that's just an excerpt of it.

you're one of THEM!

we were in seattle, roaming the streets. a guy comes up to me. he looked pretty shabby and possibly homeless. his jaw DROPPED when he saw me.

"you're...you're one of them! those little people!"

"yup." *practically hiding behind my sister*

"it's so nice to meet one of you! i mean, you guys are on tv, and...you're just so amazing! can i shake your hand?!!!"

"uhm, sure!" *my hand is *shaking* as i shake his hand*

"well, it was so nice to meet you."

*we leave*

are "we" THAT popular?

so let's start with explaining my title.

we were at a block party the other day. our neighbor and friend, who is five, and i started talking about our flower tattoos we had gotten. then it changed.

"so, how old are you?"

"15. how old are you?"

"5! but why are you so small if you're 15?"

"well, my bones grow slower than everyone else's. i'm 15 inside, but on the outside it doesn't really look it."

"oh! but why don't you just drink more milk? that's what my mommy says to do, then i'm going to grow big and strong!"

"well, that'll work for you, but it doesn't work the same way for me! :("

then we go back to the flowers and butterflies.

smart girl! i didn't know what to say back to her!

welcome!

i've been told i need to write a book about this stuff. but since i'm incapable of writing a book and i want a way for people to know my silly stories NOW, i've created this. a blog. a journal. a quote book. you will see what i go through every day.
i'm four foot one. not planning on getting a lot taller. i'm fifteen years old. i'm a little person, i have achondroplasia (yah, try saying THAT ten times fast) dwarfism. i'm just as smart as any other fifteen year old, just a bit shorter. and as you would imagine, i am quite the person where much attention is drawn. you will get to hear about the people i encounter (oh no, it's not just kids...) and what they've gotta say about me. i'll try to update as often as i can. enjoy!
